We will host a presentation by Smith’s Castle president John Dower entitled All in a Days Work: Life of an Enslaved Laborer in Colonial Rhode Island. This presentation will focus on the daily struggles of the enslaved people working on the plantations of Rhode Island during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Included in the presentations will be information pertaining to the Cocumscussoc Plantation owned by the Smith and Updike families.
